We have the spirit and systems to be sustainable as a manufacturer of inorganic functional materials.
A manufacturer of inorganic functional materials that handles a wide variety of chemicals must be able to offer value to people and society both safely and securely, and is of the greatest importance to us.
We prioritize the mechanisms and internal systems that help us comply with laws and regulations, steadily manage chemicals, and continually sustain these efforts. Let's look at some examples of these initiatives and systems.

Winner of Silver Medal in EcoVadis sustainability assessment
JGC Catalysts and Chemicals won a Silver Medal in a sustainability assessment by EcoVadis, a global platform that rates business sustainability. Their assessment comprises environmental, labor and human rights, ethics, and supply chain aspects, and their Silver rating is awarded to only the top 15% of all companies assessed in 2026.
JGC Catalysts and Chemicals will continue to use EcoVadis assessments to identify strengths and areas for improvement to enable ourselves to continually improve.

Initiatives to cut CO2 to attain carbon neutrality in 2050
JGC Catalysts and Chemicals aims to achieve carbon neutrality by meeting targets in stages, by the years 2030 and 2050.
Our Quality & Environment Social Governance Committee ensures implementation of such measures as the company's efforts to reduce the energy consumption of business activities, measure and identify CO₂ emissions, examine equipment and processes for reducing CO₂ emissions from manufacturing, install solar power generation equipment, and purchase renewable energy.

Decarbonization technology and product R&D for carbon neutrality
JGC Catalysts and Chemicals is actively researching and developing products and technologies to help build a decarbonized society and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Development subjects include the catalysts needed to make sustainable (recycled) aviation fuel (SAF), synthetic fuel (e-fuel), synthetic methane (e-methane), and more, as well as adsorbents to remove the harmful compounds generated in these production processes. We are also actively researching and developing catalysts to crack ammonia into hydrogen for hydrogen carriers.
In addition, we are creating high-function products for decarbonization to meet the needs of the next generation, thereby helping to realize a sustainable society.

Initiatives for Biodiversity Conservation
As a manufacturer of inorganic functional materials, we recognize our responsibility to actively protect the global environment, including the conservation of biodiversity.
We support conservation activities at the Hibikinada Biotope located near our Kitakyushu Operation Center, and we are continuously engaged in initiatives that contribute to local biodiversity. In recognition of these efforts, we have been certified by Japan's Ministry of the Environment and received a Certificate of Support for a Nature Coexistence Site.
In addition, we participate in alliances led by the Ministry of the Environment and in alliances led by the City of Kitakyushu, working to promote biodiversity-related activities and awareness initiatives.

To foster a corporate culture and organizational climate that place the highest importance on quality and environment, we have established this Quality and Environmental Policy. The policy is communicated, understood, and implemented by all employees, and is made available to relevant interested parties.

We establish quality and environmental objectives, implement improvement initiatives, and periodically review progress toward their achievement.
These initiatives include improving product quality, developing new products, enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, preventing nonconformities through preventive maintenance and predictive management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting biodiversity, minimizing environmental impacts, and preventing environmental pollution.
